Wellness and self-care is important for this day in age. A Guest shares with us, how she disconnects on Nantucket.
Life is wonderful, wild, beautiful, and totally hectic. We’re constantly thrown into work,
relationships, busy family lives, and social lives. While it can be a challenge to remain mindful
and balanced, sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is just…disconnect.
And Nantucket Island, especially in the quieter off season of fall, is the perfect place to do just
that. 30 miles out to sea, the “faraway land” offers a temporary escape from the everyday
hustle and bustle of life. It’s that sense of calm that always brings me back, reminding us of the
importance of slowing down.
That’s why I wanted to share my mid-week escape to the Brass Lantern on Nantucket and some
of my favorite ways to disconnect (and reconnect) on this magical little Island.
QUIET MORNINGS + BOOKS
With a quaint, downtown location, the Brass Lantern Inn abounds with seaside charm. After
arriving, the first thing I noticed were the historic, wooden interiors and bookshelves lined with
tales of the sea. Each morning, a delicious breakfast spread was laid out with french pressed
coffee and freshly baked cranberry muffins. With their cozy outdoor patio, curling up with a good
book and a steamy mug was just the type of quiet morning I craved.
COFFEE + ADAPTOGENS
If you want to venture just out of town for your oat milk latte fix, Roastd General Store is the
place to go. So much more than just a coffee shop, their menu boasts an assortment of plant powered
goodies and wellness items. Beyond the sit-down coffee and tea cafè, the shop sells a
curated collection of adaptogens, herbs, Ayurveda medicine products, candles, super foods,
aromatherapy, and so much more.
BEACH MEDITATIONS
EE. Cummings said, “It’s always ourselves we find in the sea.” There’s something so alluring
about the wide open beaches of Nantucket. I love taking an early stroll to the Brant Point
Lighthouse, just a 15 minute walk from the Brass Lantern, to take in the morning light and sea-drenched
air. Put away your phone, or even your meditation app, for the day – and just soak in
nature’s very best therapy.
FRESH, LOCAL FOODS
Lemon Press serves up tons of healthy, tasty eats and drinks. If you’re craving some green juice
the clean green is so satisfying and refreshing. They also have tons of tasty healthy tea
creations. The best way to start the morning? Get your body energized with a fresh ginger and
lemon shot.
YOGA & MOVEMENT
Whenever I go on vacation, I love checking out different local yoga studios in the community.
Finding The Yoga Room was such a welcome treat! I tried a creative flow (heated) class, which
was just what I needed to reset and harmonize my body. It’s a great way to elevate any wellness
experience when you’re on a vacation to taking some much needed time for yourself.
So, next time you find yourself stuck in the daily grind of work, think of the wide open sea and
healing powers of Nantucket’s familiar breezes. You definitely won’t regret checking in for your
own mid-week escape.
Until next time!
