Spring is here, a different spring than we expected, for sure. Daffodil Festival, traditionally the last weekend in April, has always been the Nantucket Island event to welcome the beginning our our Nantucket season. But this year, while the daffodils still abound on Island, Daffy, along with Wine, Book and Film festivals, have been cancelled – all victims of the shelter-in-place orders. No news yet on Fourth of July.
While we may not have the festivals to tell you about this year, we want to bring you news of the Brass Lantern and Nantucket and a BONUS to help you dream and plan your return!
We always take advantage of our winter hiatus to do renovation projects and cosmetic work to improve the quality of our public spaces and guest rooms to create a better guest experience. This winter, in addition to renovating the bathrooms in Empire, Elizabeth Starbuck and the Family Suite,
we also re-shingled the building and the roof (necessary work, but not necessarily planned!)
Nantucket has said a resounding “NO” to single use plastic at the last Town Meeting, so in order to comply and do our part in protecting our precious ecosystem, we will no longer provide single use water bottles in the guest rooms. So, if you want your water ‘to go’, bring your water bottle from home, and re-fill it at our new bottle filling station in our Guest Pantry. In addition, each room will have a water carafe to fill from either the water station or from the tap. Nantucket’s water is sourced from under Island aquifers and the quality of the water compares favorably with any commercially available bottled water. Check out the latest water quality results from the Wannacomet Water website – which describes just how the water from Nantucket’s aquifers exceeds all accepted standards!
There is light at the end of the Covid -19 tunnel, and, once leisure travel is again encouraged, we can’t wait to have you back. We enjoy having our guests fill our cozy dining room with small chatter over breakfast, your four-legged companion running around in our very own dog run, guests enjoying the fire-pit outside in our garden with a coffee and book in their hand…something to think about while you are home-bound!Now, for the BONUS… To help you plan your next getaway (and help us refill our coffers – the spring cancellations have been tough), purchase a gift certificate before May 15 – for any amount – and we will add 20% to the face value. So, a purchase of $500 becomes $600, or $1000 becomes $1200…The gift certificate is valid for six years, so plenty of time to plan your getaway…see you on Island!
