“Small but fascinating and creatively designed museum. Great way to get a sense not only of the history of whaling as an industry but of the history of Nantucket and, in fact, of the economic, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States.” – was recently posted by EarthTraveler58 on TripAdvisor…and we couldn’t agree more!
Nantucket Whaling Museum |
The Nantucket Whaling Museum, located on the corner of Broad and N Water streets, just a stone’s throw from the Brass Lantern Inn, is another one of Nantucket’s treasures! The Whaling Museum has been widely recognized as on of the premiere repository of whaling history and artifacts.
But it is much more than just a repository – the Whaling Museum is a center of the thriving Nantucket community – from the marathon reading of Moby Dick in the winter to the myriad of displays, programs and events in the rest of the year.
A whale’s eye view of the exhibits |
If you are visiting Nantucket for the first – or fiftieth – time, the Whaling Museum and the numerous other NHA properties, should definitely be on your list. The Brass Lantern’s Whaling History Buff package is our most popular package for our guests, and includes your fast ferry tickets and a walking tour through the Old Historic District.
