During the winter of 2017, we worked with Nantucket Looms to complete the final steps steps in the three year long renovation of the Brass Lantern. We renovated the last few ‘yet to be renovated’ guest rooms and also enhanced our Sitting Room and Kitchen. As you can see in the photos below, our Sitting Room now provides a welcoming and chic space to relax, read, converse, have a snack – and more completely enjoy your stay at the Brass Lantern.
We also enclosed our kitchen with a pocket glass-paned French door and added sparkling navy and white high gloss paint on the cabinets and all new stainless appliances. By enclosing the kitchen, we now have an expanded Guest Pantry that connects the Main Inn with the Garden Wing and offers a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, tea kettle, ice machine, and sink – with dishes, wine glasses and cutlery available for nighttime noshes!
Here are some of the before and after photos of the renovated guest rooms:
Mary Mitchell, our littlest room, just off the Sitting Room is now a ‘bed-sit’ – a comfortable sitting room during the day and a cozy queen bedded bedroom by night. The addition of a ‘Murphy-style’ bed, contained in the cabinet, also provides storage space for bedding as well as guest items. Guests will enjoy the new ‘touch light’ mirror that provides wonderful light for getting ready to go out on the Town!
Elizabeth Starbuck, one of our most popular rooms with it’s quiet second floor location and large bath, also benefitted from a complete updating
and new furniture. The two oversize glossy white lacquered side tables provide drawer storage space and free up the floor space to accommodate the comfortable seating area for enjoying a glass of wine, catching up on the news or reading in the afternoon.
Zenas Coffin, another Main Inn queen room, also received a face lift. Again, to free up floor space, we installed a knee wall chest under the wall mounted flat screen TV, which allowed us to bring two seagrass wingback chairs into the bay windowed seating area. We updated the color scheme to an edgy natural pattern – and now have a thoroughly modern Nantucket guest room!
With the renovation of the Garden and Patio, the last steps to our 100% renovation of the Brass Lantern, will be to purchase new tables and chairs for the Patio and add more seating to the Garden. Stay tuned!
