Just a few blocks from the Brass Lantern Inn, there are several new restaurants to try out…
If you have been to Nantucket during the past 10 years, you will remember the Even Keel, a popular Main Street restaurant. At any time of the day, you would see people milling about, waiting for their table and soaking up the Main Street scene.
People still mill about waiting for their table at Met on Main, the new, upscale European-style bistro with sophisticated decor that has taken over the spot of the former Even Keel. In addition to a menu which emphasizes locally grown food, Met on Main has a beautiful new outside dining patio to complement the main dining room. Â Met on Main will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and prepare ‘beach boxes’ to go!
Stroll down Main Street to the end of Straight Wharf, and you will find Cru, where The Ropewalk used to be. You still have the view, the breezes and the patio but in a completely renovated chic and sophisticated setting – one of our guests said it was like being on an expensive yacht – with a strong emphasis on seafood, both raw and cooked. Cru describes itself as Nantucket’s premiere oyster bar. I am not an oyster fan, and have not yet dined at Cru – however, Bob and Andrea, frequent guests at the Brass Lantern and discriminating diners, raved that they had the best swordfish in their lives last night at Cru!
There is still time to plan a trip to Nantucket this summer – if you are a ‘spontaneous’ traveler, check out our Specials page for any last minute availability – then decide where you want to have your dinner…
