The Brass Lantern has opened for our 17th season this year with a “host” of changes – and a Continental flair!
Our New Innkeeper
Aurore Alonzo joined us in March as our new Innkeeper. Native of France, Aurore has charmed both our American and European guests with her Gallic charm and warm, welcoming smile. Aurore set her sights on innkeeping by taking some courses while living and working in New York as personal assistant for executives at Pernod Ricard and for Air France. Being the Innkeeper at the Brass Lantern is just another step on Aurore’s path toward achieving her dream of buying an inn in Montpellier in the South of France, her childhood home. Need some specific information in planning your Nantucket Getaway at the Brass Lantern or have a special request – just ask Aurore!
Our Breakfast Barista
Maria Mercedes Cardona has joined our team as our Breakfast Barista! A past guest at the Brass Lantern and now a Nantucket summer resident, we are fortunate that her years of culinary experience is expanding our range and variety of breakfast offerings – including French press coffee. Born in Colombia, Maria brings her energy and charm to the Dining Room each morning – you won’t be surprised to find some Colombian delicacies on our expanding breakfast menu – French press coffee, croissants or biscocho de guayaba anyone???
The Rest of our Team
We have added two part time Concierges to our team (more details in a future post) and our housekeeping staff this year will include a bellman!
Brass Lantern to Add Nine Rooms
This year, the Brass Lantern will close early, just after Columbus Day, to begin the construction of an addition to the Main Inn. This building will include nine guest rooms, one of which is ADA accessible, a lift from the sidewalk to the first floor, and private decks overlooking the Garden and the Harbor. More details, complete with images, on this exciting development in a future post.
